Subject: Burzum (Varg Vikernes) Tue Jul 23, 2013 5:13 am
Let me say a few words about Burzum.. Varg Vikernes may be a bit of an "extremist", however I do not look at his personal or political views when I talk about his music. Sure he's done prison time and is banned in a few countries but that's him, not his music.
Burzum is what got me into Black Metal and the whole "underground" scene.
The first time I heard this song, "Beholding the Daughters of the Firmaments", it changed my life forever.
Vikernes writes and records all parts of his albums. I find that a very admirable trait in a musician. Like my own music, not many people like or enjoy it. To that I say "Good! If it doesn't sound good to you, then I'm doing something right!"
Black Metal will always be my "go-to" music. The raw form and the honesty of it. "Let's strip everything we don't need.. Then it will be perfect."
