I love this album so much, it was my favorite HIM album until the new one came around now it is a tie.
This album really opened me up to being a HIM fan, it is kind of hard to get into it at first. You have to realize that HIM music is sex, death, love, death, sadness, death, oh and did I mention death. Ville Valo also weaves a very cryptic message through all of his songs. The have great meaning and beauty behind them you just have to peel back the layers of the song.
This album was also the first album to be released in the USA, and it was their first sign of trouble as a band.
1. The music video for Join Me In Death was banned be the FCC because it talked about suicide, the ban was lifted later, how ever only do to the fact that Ville argued it was written about Romeo and Juliet.
2.The band had issues with their name His Infernal Majesty, the FCC told them to change or not release their album. So Ville changed the name to H.I.M which caused a problem. There was already an American band by that name. So followed the legal battle for the name usage in the USA. Ville wanted the album out so he pushed it through under the name HER. This is a rare find to have the album as the band HER. After the album release in Finland in 1999, they had the US release in 2000 under the name of HER. The legal battle continued only to grant HIM the name and legal rights to it so in 2003 Razorblade Romance was released as we all know it today, by the band HIM. Shortly after it's release though HIM pushed through with three more album releases for the US Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights, Love Metal and Dark Light.
