Out of the Ashes
There once was a girl who spent all her days alone.  It was not that she chose to be alone, but all the people in the village she lived in thought she was strange and a freak.  So everyday, she would avoid having to interact with them and they would ignore that she existed.  And so, she and the villagers continued their lives this way, and no one ever gave the girl the opportunity to be understood.

Eventually, the girl began to believe that she really was a freak like they said and she was not good enough for this world.  She began to long for companionship, but knew no one in this village would want to be her friend.  The girl decided that she should brave the outskirts of the village and leave to find a friend.  So, one day she left, and not a soul in the village was disturbed by her disappearance.
As she wandered through the forest, the girl wondered if she had made the right decision.  So far, there had been no signs of other humans, and it was starting to get dark and cold.  The girl decided to stop and start a fire so that she could keep warm.  Staring into the warm glow of the fire, she drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, she was awoken by the rising sun.  She could hear birds chirping and could see the smoke curling out of the remnants of her fire.  She sat up and stretched, breathing in the fresh morning air.  She looked at the coals and ashes of the previous night's fire and could swear that she saw them stir.  Her eyes grew wide when she saw the ashes start to swirl around and  take a human shape.
She watched in awe as a boy appeared.  He was tall, with raven black hair and smoldering brown eyes. "Where did you come from?" she asked him.
"I came from your loneliness and your need for companionship," he told her.
"But won't it be lonely, just the two of us?" the girl asked him.
"I could never be lonely with you, because we are meant to be together," He responded with a smile.
She smiled back at him.  "Where shall we go?  Where will we be accepted?"
"It doesn't matter as long as we have each other."
So off they went, together forever.  Out of the ashes had come her salvation and she was never lonely again.

Through the Pain
There once was a girl who was very sad and depressed.  No one knew why she was so sad, but nothing could ever cheer her up.  Her family tried everything they could think of, but the girl would still cry herself to sleep every night.
One day, the girl's family told her to go for a walk in the nearby woods.  They hoped that seeing the beautiful flora and fauna would make her happy.
While walking, the girl decided that the emotional pain was just too much to bear.  She decided that the only way to get rid of her emotional pain was with physical pain.  So the girl picked up a sharp looking rock and pressed it into the deep blue vein on her arm until she saw brilliant red welling up out of her skin.
"What are you doing?" The voice made her jump.  It was deep and soothing.
She turned and saw a tall, beautiful boy, with black hair and eyes the color of dusk.  "I'm replacing my emotional pain with physical pain," she responded to him.
He stared at her for a moment, watching as her own blood dripped to the ground.  "Stop this.  If you are sad, express it in a different way instead of harming yourself," he told her.
For a moment, the girl just looked at him.  Then she realized, her sadness was gone, and it hadn't disappeared when she hurt herself, it had disappeared when she saw the boy.
She smiled up at him.  "You've given me the strength to go on," she said.
He gave her a dazzling smile in return, "Then we are both strong."
He made her strong when her pain never could.

The Hopeless
I can't let the emptiness consume me, yet, at times, it is overwhelming. This heart wrenching sense of loneliness and the feeling that the universe is against me. Loneliness, pain, and sometimes even fear drive me forward. They control my life, feasting off every atom of my being. My heart tells me to make it stop, but all I can do is let the consumption continue. I embrace it. I can never let it go. It is the only thing left for me. I am unwanted, undesired in this cruel world we call our home. This one little world amongst a miasma of heavenly bodies. So many people, yet none for me. Nothingness, emptiness, loneliness...
